What to pack in your nappy bag - a checklist 

Heading out for the first time with your newborn may make you feel a little (or a lot)! nervous and overwhelmed  and you may be wondering what to pack in your nappy bag  when you head out for that first trip. We get it, so we have created the ultimate nappy bag checklist of the essentials to pack in your baby bag. This will help keep you both prepared and relaxed while out and about. 

1. Nappies

The number of nappies you pack depends on how long you will be going out. Pro Tip - pack a  nappy for each hour you will be out and always keep 2 -3 in your bag just in case you are delayed or get hot with an unexpected poo explotion. 

• Portable changing mat.
• Baby wipes
• Nappy rash cream.
• Disposable nappy bags for soiled nappies or clothes
• Spare clothes – plan for two full outfit changes and more if you will be out all day. Yes we are serious!

3. Feeding Supplies:

For younger babies –

• Formula 
• Baby bottles – if bottle feeding
• Burp cloths
• Bibs
• Dummy

For older babies and toddlers

• Snacks
• Baby food pouches or tubs from home
• Spoon/fork
• Suction plate or bowl
• Sippy cut with water
• More snacks!
• Baby bottle 

4. Extra Clothes and Layers:

Think jackets, extra socks, hats, booties etc. 

5. Sleep items

• Baby Blanket - This can stay in your spram
• Swaddle
• Dummy (if using one)
• Comforter
• Portable white noise machine
• Pram cover

6. First Aid Kit:

• With band-aids
• Antiseptic wipes,
• Panadol
• Any medications your child needs

7. Entertainment

• Teething toys
• Portable play mat or blanket
• Books or colouring for toddlers or older kids

8. Snacks and Drinks for you

• Snacks in spill-proof containers.
• Water bottle

9. If breastfeeding -

• Nipple guards
• Nipple cream
• Breast pads

10. Don’t forget to pack your essentials, too! –

• Wallet
• Keys
• Phone
• Sunglasses
• Lip balm
• Spare t-shirt in case your little one decides to redecorate your top with spit-up or messy hands.
